2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information for use in connection with our Services. Each User must create an account to use our Services. Users may also provide payment and billing information. Guide & Seek collects and securely stores this information.
2A. Account Creation
To create an account, each User must provide:
Name (first and last)
Valid email address
2B. Demographic Information
You have choices about the information to provide in connection with our Services. Each job-seeking User is asked to provide the following “Demographic Information” for the User’s account:
Employment status at most recent employer
Employment wages at most recent employer
2C. Career Information
Each job-seeking User is also asked to provide the following “Career Information”:
Short narratives regarding expertise, motivations, and interests
Dates available to start work
Receipt of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree
Career Information will be shared with employers. Career Information will also be shared with “Guides,” who are job or career counselors you may elect to work with and who may be employed by an educational program, Guide & Seek, private company, or other third party; may be a freelancer/independent party; or may be your friend, family member, colleague, or other trusted individual.
We strongly encourage, but do not require, that each job-seeking User link or upload one or more resumes and one or more cover letters to our Services. Users may also wish to link or upload other documents, such as transcripts, certificates, or anything else that may assist them with working with a Guide or using our Services. We may use the data contained on these documents to promote relevant recommendations. By uploading any documents to the Services, you are granting us a license at no additional cost to us, and with no restriction, to use the individual pieces of data present on any such document.

During account creation, a User may also provide us with payment and billing information, which will be used only with the User’s additional permission. We collect information related to Service transactions, such as orders, requests, purchases, invoices, and payments.
2F. Sync with Third Party Platforms
Our Services may offer the ability to sync or connect with third party platforms. Each User is responsible for syncing only that data which is permissible for use on our Services. Any information that we collect from Apple, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Github, or other networking services and sites depends on the privacy settings you have with those services and sites. Please review these services and sites’ privacy and data practices before syncing information.
2G. Direct Communications and Forms
We collect information if you contact us for support or help, or otherwise communicate with us. We collect information when you complete our forms. The information we collect enables us to customize and enhance our Services. In addition, we may use the information you submit to communicate with you about our news, events, promotions, and new products.
2H. Interaction and Usage Data
We collect data from you when you provide, post, or upload it to our Services, such as when you fill out a form, respond to a survey, send a message, or submit a resume. You do not have to post or upload data; although if you do not, it may limit your ability to utilize our Services.
We collect information about the URLs, titles, and content of the web pages and other information you provide to our Services. The types of information we collect include: browser type, device type, device ID, time zone, language, and other information related to the manner in which you access our Services.
We may log usage data when you visit or otherwise use our Services, including our websites, apps, and platforms, such as when you view or click on content or ads, perform a search, install or update one of our apps, share articles, or apply for jobs.
Our Services are dynamic, and we often introduce new features, which may require the collection of new information and additional to the information described above.
2I. Automatic Collection Technologies
We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyze data about web page traffic and improve our Services in order to tailor the Services to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes.
We may also use “pixel tags,” “web beacons,” “clear GIFs” or similar means (individually or collectively “Pixel Tags”) in connection with emails that we send to our Users in order to collect usage data. We use Pixel Tags, other technologies, and the information we collect to count Users who have visited certain pages on our Services, to deliver branded services, and to help determine the effectiveness of promotional or advertising campaigns.
Overall, cookies help us provide you with better Services, by enabling us to monitor which pages and Services you find useful. Cookies do not give us access to a computer or any information about you, other than the data you and your device choose to share with us.
You may decline cookies, if permitted by your device and browser, although doing so may affect the performance or ability to use certain features of our Services.
We may collect personal information related to behavioral tracking, and our Services do not currently respond to do-not-track signals or other mechanisms that enable Users to opt out of tracking.
2J. Information from Third Parties
In compliance with applicable law, we may receive personal data about you from partners, such as employers, prospective employers, educational programs, and applicant tracking systems. Others using our Services may provide us with data about you and your eligibility to use the Services that they purchase for use by their workers, students, or alumni.
2K. Information from Children Prohibited
Each User must be at least 18 years of age in order to use our Services. No one may provide any personal information related to a person under the age of 13 in connection with our Services. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and do not knowingly collect any personal information from young people under the age of 13 without the required consents. If we learn that we have inadvertently done so, we will promptly delete such information.
4. THE WAY WE USE INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to operate and improve our Services, such as making new content available, and to provide and personalize our Services so that they can be more relevant and useful to you and others. How we use your personal data will depend on which Services you use and how you use those Services.
4A. Our Services
We use your data to authorize access to our Services and provide our Services. Our Services enable job-seekers to explore careers, evaluate educational opportunities, and seek out career opportunities. We may use your information and data about you to help others find your profile, suggest connections for you and others, and enable you to connect with others. User profiles can be found by those looking to hire or be hired by you, as well as Guides. We may use your data to recommend jobs or mentees. We may use your data to recommend jobs and recruiters. We may use automated systems to provide recommendations to help make our Services more relevant. Keeping your information accurate and up-to-date may help you better connect to others and to opportunities through our Services.
4B. Aggregated Information
We use non-identifying, aggregated information to analyze the manner in which our Services are used. Such aggregated information includes the manner in which content has been accessed, saved, and shared. We may use aggregated information to offer a list of top sites or content, to make recommendations, to report on usage and trends, to improve the Services that we offer, or to develop new products and services. We may also use non-identifying, non-aggregated information to deliver tailored advertisements. We may use aggregated data and content about Users for invitations and communications promoting membership and network growth, engagement, and our Services.

We may use information about a User that excludes personal identifiers to analyze usage to enhance and market our Services. We reserve the right to use such anonymized data individually and in aggregate form.
4E. Feedback and Contributions
We may use information provided by a User in the form of feedback, suggestions, or other comments to improve existing Services and develop new products and services. By providing feedback, suggestions, and other comments, you (1) agree that any intellectual property rights (e.g., copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, etc.) related to or arising from any such feedback, suggestions, and other comments will be the sole property of Guide & Seek; (2) irrevocably convey, transfer, and assign to Guide & Seek any rights, title, and interest in any intellectual property rights related to or arising from any such feedback, suggestions, and other comments; (3) disclaim any right, title, and interest in any intellectual property rights related to or arising from any such feedback, suggestions, and other comments; and (4) waive any claims and causes of action related to contribution to, or ownership of, any intellectual property rights related to or arising from any such feedback, suggestions, and other comments.

We use others to help us provide our Services (e.g., maintenance, analysis, audit, payments, fraud detection, marketing, analytics, and research and development). They will have access to your information as reasonably necessary to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use your information for other purposes.
If you are a job-seeking candidate working with one or more Guides through our Services, then any data you input or create on our Services will be shared with your Guide(s). We may share information to the educational program regarding student job-seekers and/or employees associated with the program.
5C. Release Required by Law
Although we strive to protect the personal information of our Users, we will release personal information if required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Guide & Seek, other Users, affiliates, partners, and third parties. We follow the law whenever we receive requests about one or more Users from a government or related to a lawsuit. We will notify affected Users when we are asked to disclose their personally-identifiable information in this way unless we are legally prohibited from doing so. When we receive requests like this, we will only release a User’s personally-identifiable information if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary or appropriate under applicable law. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any legal defenses or objections that a User may have to a third party’s request to disclose the User’s information.
We employ security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, and/or unauthorized alteration of the information under our control or under the control of our affiliates and partners.
Although we strive to protect privacy, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that personal information or private communications will always remain free from security issues. There is no guarantee that data may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.
In the event of a security breach involving your personal information, we will make any legally-required disclosures in the most expedient way possible and without unreasonable delay, consistent with the legitimate interests of law enforcement, or any measures necessary to determine the scope of the breach and restore the reasonable integrity of the Services.
7. LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES
Our Services may contain links to other websites. We do not have control over third-party links, and you should exercise caution and review the privacy statement applicable to the website in question before visiting links.
We do not and will not, at any time, request you username, password, credit card information, or national identification number in an unsolicited e-mail or telephone communication. For more information about phishing, visit the Federal Trade Commission’s website at www.ftc.gov.
9. DATA RETENTION AND ACCESS TO INFORMATION
We generally retain your personal data. This includes data you or others provide to us and data generated or inferred from your use of our Services. Even if you only use our Services once, we may retain your information and keep your profile open until you decide to close your account. We provide no warranty that information will be kept and available for any period of time.
We retain a User’s personal data even after the User has closed the User’s account if reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations, meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our Terms of Service. We will retain de-personalized information after a User’s account has been closed.
To ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete, and up to date, update your account profile, or contact us through the email address below regarding any errors or updates affecting the personal information that we may hold.
We may send emails to our Users. To avoid receiving such emails in the future, a User may opt-out of receiving it by using the unsubscribe feature on any of our email correspondence. We retain information to comply with a User’s request to “unsubscribe” from further messages.
